Singapore, 19 December 2013: Ruby Chen one part of the band, Singapore Char Siew Baos, has been under The Elites of Audio-Technica since its inception in early 2012. The program was an initiative by Audio-Technica to lend support to the local music scene as well as Singapore’s talented musicians. Ruby has recently gone on to release her new album, Circles.
Bubbly and vivacious, Ruby sparkles on stage one moment, hands dancing across her djembe. But the next moment she digs deep and surprises you with the emotional depths of her soulful voice. Passionate about music, she has been performing since her younger days but has always aspired to write and release her own music.
Circles is a compilation of Ruby’s own original compositions, and also the title of her first single off the album. She debuted the song at the at Audio-Technica’s Super Sonic Show, a product showcase event, on the 12 December at Club Kyo.
The album itself is a collection of flavorful arrangements, from R&B to Pop Bossa and ballads. The recording process was challenging for Ruby as she felt the pressure to make an impression on the listeners, especially with the first single. The album was recorded entirely using Audio-Technica’s flagship studio microphone, the AT5040, which was picked by Ruby herself. She professed that she was drawn to the clarity and sound of the mic, “The lows of my voice wasn’t muddy, and the highs was really pristine.”
