Audio-Technica is proud to release a new video on its YouTube channel and website featuring our very own ambassador, The Simon Yong Band.
The Simon Yong Band is a progressive instrumental rock/fusion quartet from Singapore. Front by Simon Yong (guitars), and back up by Joanna Lim (keyboards), Brandon Khoo (drums), and Yazeid Rahman (bass), the band performs mainly original materials from Simon's debut solo instrumental album "Alien Stole My Whiskey" (2013). Since 2013, they have performed at various stages from Mosaic Music Festival to a sold out show at BluJaz Café and not forgetting their tours in Kuala Lumpur, and an amazing 18 live performances in Tokyo and Osaka.

In this video, the band was asked to share openly on their musical journeys, their inspirations and challenges and their thoughts on how the music industry in Singapore has shaped over the years. A large part of the interview was also focused on how Audio-Technica’s product, namely the System 10, has become an invaluable tool in the band’s performances and shows.
Audio-Technica’s System 10 is high-fidelity digital wireless system designed to provide performing musicians and presenters with advanced 24-bit operation, easy setup and clear, natural sound quality. Operating in the 2.4 GHz range, far from TV and DTV interference, System 10 offers extremely easy operation and instantaneous channel selection (of up to 8).
The video was shot at a private studio where the band spent most of their time writing their original music. The concept and idea of this video was to highlight Singapore’s very own rock band in a vintage style. The settings, lightings and camera angles that were set for this video portray the old school classy vintage environment that is perfect for rock bands.
When started on the interview topics, the band just could not stop talking about it:
Simon Yong: “I found out about the System 10 and so I decided to give it a shot, it was so good, it was so reliable and so easy to use which is exactly what I want. I’ve seen people fall, trip over wires and cables and then, they have to stop the show immediately and the ambulance has to come. With the wireless, it keeps me safe.”
Brandon Khoo: “I liked the lightness of it and the convenience of me being able to bring it around, and how it worked. Since that day I got the product I never looked back.”
Joanna Lim: “For the first time, I can actually run around on stage. I never felt so much freedom. I have the ability to go wireless, that means a huge thing for me because, for 10 years of my performance life as a keyboardist, I’m always like just stationary at the back , very dull, very boring.“
Yazeid Rahman: “Aesthetically, it looks nicer. Instead of having cables dangling around, now we just got a pack. I think it makes us look good.”
The System 10 is available in multiple system configurations- The standard receiver with either a choice of handheld vocal microphone or belt-pack transmitter designed for use with lavalier microphones, headworn microphones or instrument microphones. Next in line, the System 10 provides a stompbox receiver for pairing with guitarist, bassists and other instrumentalists.
The Simon Yong Band is proud to be the official ambassador of Audio-Technica under the “Own Your Freedom” campaign. Be it overseas tours or locals gigs, System 10 accompanies them everywhere they rock.
