“There are many sounds around us that we often take for granted. We wanted to highlight the unique soundscape of ASEAN’s key cities as ASEAN has one of the most diverse cultures in the world”, enthused Audio-Technica’s Pro-Audio Sales Team Leader, Mr Chen Jinfu. “Following the success of Audiolog: SG, we decided on Kuala Lumpur as our next destination as it is the capital of Malaysia and home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers. Kuala Lumpur is also a place of diverse cultures, with Batu Caves as the focal point of Hinduism and Petaling Street, a traditional trading site with strong Chinese heritage”, said Mr Chen.

To accurately capture the key sounds in this three locations, Audio-Technica (S.E.A.) specifically appointed Mr Justin Loh to use his technical knowledge to design different miking techniques for each environment using a selection of Audio-Technica microphones. “It is always our joy to work with Justin. With his keen hearing for details and experiences with Audio-Technica products, it makes it an easy task for us”, says Mr Chen. Justin has a good knowledge of Audio-Technica microphones as well as creative miking techniques which allows him to fully utilise the wide range of microphones from Audio-Technica.”

When asked about his opinion on Audio-Technica microphones, Mr Loh had nothing but praises for the brand and the products. “I am a big fan of Audio-Technica microphones. I use them in my work mainly for feature films and documentaries. For this video, I specifically chose broadcast microphones like the BP4029 and BP4025, and 40-series studio microphones like the AT4050ST as I felt that they could best bring out the unique sounds in the different environments. Different environments require different miking applications and with Audio-Technnica’s wide range of microphones, I could easily select the best-fits for each situation.”
- The tools behind Audiolog: KL
Due to well-received responses on Audiolog:SG and Audiolog:KL, the team’s future plan is to bring this campaign to other parts the South-East Asian region.
