ATH-AWKT Audiophile Closed-Back Dynamic Wooden Headphones
- $2,399.00
Product Description
Our Wooden Headphones series has been delivering natural, acoustic sound with rich overtones for more than 20 years. The ATH-AWKT Kokutan headphone extends this tradition.
Employing striped ebony housing to suppress unwanted resonance inside the earcups, the Kokutan headphone elevates the hi-fi listening experience with a rare visual and sonic elegance.
Since our first model of wooden headphones, the ATH-W10VTG in 1996, we have developed a variety of different woods for use in our headphones.
With unique, natural beauty and superb tonal qualities, our wooden headphones provide a clear, warm, wide-open sound.
The ATH-AWKT adopts striped ebony (Kokutan), a wood renowned for its excellent acoustic properties.
Ebony: high-density for efficient acoustic damping
Ebony is a valuable hardwood acquired from trees that can take more than 200 years to reach maturity. Through this long life, the tree creates a beautiful striped grain pattern of black and brown. This rare material is used for woodwind instruments and pianos keys because of its clear sound characteristics that suppress unwanted resonance. Our ebony housings are hand-finished with half-gloss to bring out the unique, natural beauty of the wood’s grain. The wood’s appearance will continue to change over time – a development you can enjoy along with your music.
D.A.D.S. (Double Air Damping System) (PAT.)
Audio-Technica’s unique technology, employed throughout our range of hi-fi closed-back headphones, divides the housing structure into two separate acoustic chambers for smooth bass reproduction.
Detachable A2DC connectors
The detachable connectors have been designed for exceptional audio quality and durability. They provide a secure connection for stable signal transmission and are built to handle long listening sessions.
Balanced connection-compatible (for better channel separation)
In addition to a 3.0m detachable cable with 6.3mm plug, a 3.0m detachable balanced cable with XLR connector is included to provide compatibility with the latest hi-fi listening technology. 6N-OFC wire, a high-purity, oxygen-free copper, is used for the balanced cable to a high-quality sound transmission.
Magnesium alloy arm
The lightweight and highly rigid headphone housing arm is made of magnesium alloy. The angle of the arm has been designed to provide the best fit for these closed-back headphones, improving the earcup seal so that all reproduced sound can be heard.
Sheepskin earpads and headband
Smooth, high-durability sheepskin is used for the stitched, ergonomic earpads and the headband, providing a comfortable fit for long listening sessions.
Japanese craftsmanship
These headphones are hand-assembled at our factory in Naruse, Tokyo, where all of our wooden headphones are produced. The wooden housings’ natural half-gloss finish is carefully hand-polished and painted, one by one.
