Audio-Technica Introduces New Wooden Headphone, ATH-WP900

Singapore, Singapore – Audio-Technica’s new Flame maple wood headphones offer an immersive audio experience. Maple, often used for string instruments such as guitars and violins due to its superior stiffness and density, has been selected for our new portable wooden headphones. The beautiful ‘flame’ grain offers a spectrum of deep colors that can be enjoyed from any angle; these headphones deliver high-end aesthetics with a hi-fi listening experience.

Since our first model of wooden headphones, the ATH-W10VTG in 1996, we have developed a variety of different woods for use in our headphones. With unique, natural beauty and superb tonal qualities, our wooden headphones provide a clear, warm, wide-open sound. In 2007, with our ATH-ESW9, we were able to offer wooden headphones that could be enjoyed outside of the home. Now, with the new ATH-WP900 portable wooden headphones, we offer superb sound reproduction for today’s hi-fi enthusiasts who enjoy life on the move.

Flame maple wood for clear sound
The ATH-WP900 housings are constructed entirely from wood, fusing flame grain maple on top of machined solid natural maple. The headphones offer ideal response and accurate sound thanks to the maple wood’s dense and stiff characteristics.

Japanese craftsmanship
From design to manufacturing, the ATH-WP900 is made at the Audio-Technica factory in Naruse, Tokyo, where we have been developing and manufacturing our wooden series of headphones for many years.

The finish for the flame maple housings is provided by Japanese guitar manufacturer Fujigen. Their craftsmanship brings out the unique grain of each housing, making every pair these headphones a one-of-a-kind product, with a beauty that will deepen with age.

Hi-fi portable sound
The ATH-WP900 features an exclusive 53mm large diameter driver, designed with a DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, to deliver exceptional full-range audio. The top-mounted PCB construction helps regulate airflow to enable precise diaphragm movement. In addition, the high-power magnet ensures superlative low-range audio reproduction.

Newly designed angled baffle
The baffle has been designed at an angle to improve airflow between the front and rear of the diaphragm for better low- to mid-range audio reproduction. The baffle angle also improves the seal of the earcup.

Comfortable fit
Smooth synthetic leather is used for the ergonomic earpads and headband. The foam pads provide a comfortable fit for long periods of listening.

Detachable A2DC connectors
The detachable connectors have been designed for exceptional audio quality and durability. They provide a secure connection for stable signal transmission and are built to handle long listening sessions.
