Pushed his strong love and passion for music, he proceeded to New York to realize his dreams.
He was deeply influenced by manipulating sounds into music that was created instrumentally by turntables, and hence pursed “Turntablism” there.
In 2000, he started his career professionally and quickly established himself as a live DJ in several bands sharing the stages with renowned artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, COMMON, Omar, Julian Marly, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, etc.
As a professional solo turntablist, he became the first and only Japanese placed in 1st Runner up for DMC New York in 2005. He returned to Japan later and swiftly caught the eyes of Toshi Kubota, the pioneer of Japanese Soul and R&B music.
Toshi Kubota featured DJ toMU in 2 of his tracks for his album “For Real?” released from SONY Music Entertainment in 2006.
Aside from being a world-class turntablist, he also started playing in the Hip Hop band, OHGA Band in 2007, which emerged as “THE
FIRST Japan CHAMPION” for Redbull SOUNDCLASH in 2008. In 2011, he moved to Singapore to expand his career in Asia.
In 2013, he was officially appointed to be an ambassador for Audio-Technica, No.1 Headphone brand in Japan.
Combined with new experiences in Singapore based on his previous career, quickly he was caught the attentions to perform not only for night clubs but also for big events such as Universal Studio Singapore New Year Eve COUNTDOWN for 2014-2015 / 2013-2014, ONE PIECE RUN Singapore in 2016.
Also, he released his first EP “WAZA" under his music producer name as Show Ning in 2013, and it was ranked 2nd in Dance / Electronica category in Amazon MP3 Japan.
DJ toMU continues to be a prestigious and famous DJ in the circuit, and is currently heading his own DJ studio, Show Ning DJ SCHOOL, for amateur, upcoming DJs and music producers to pick up skills and gain experiences in Singapore.
